AVATAR
: Orlando’s Tourism Industry to Get Bump

Orlando Tourism sector looks forward to first-ever AVATAR attraction.

Steven Spielberg was a big hit. Now, it’s James Cameron’s turn.

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Worldwide has joined forces with Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment and Fox Filmed Entertainment to bring the world of AVATAR to life at Disney parks. Producing partner Jon Landau will also get in the act to create themed lands that give guests the opportunity to visit Pandora.

Disney plans to build the first AVATAR themed land at Walt Disney World Orlando within its Animal Kingdom park. Construction is expected to begin soon.

With two new AVATAR films currently in development, the timing is right for new collaboration, Cameron says: ”I’m chomping at the bit to start work with Disney’s legendary Imagineers to bring our AVATAR universe to life.”

The agreement gives The Walt Disney Co. exclusive global theme park rights to the AVATAR franchise and provides for additional AVATAR themed lands at other Disney parks. In addition to setting a global box office record, AVATAR has been hailed as one of the most innovative and visually stunning movies ever produced.

Obviously, Disney is hoping for similar accolades.
