Allied Specialty Vehicles (ASV) plans to expand its presence at U.S. Ambulance Corporation in Winter Park, Fla., adding 126 new jobs and making a $2 million capital investment.
Headquartered in Orlando, ASV began their expansion efforts here in 2011. Now, due to acquiring two additional ambulance manufacturers and increased international sales and major municipal contracts, they must expand. With the help of strategic partners Enterprise Florida, the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission (EDC) and the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, these plans are ready to move forward.
“ASV’s decision to expand its facility reinforces our region’s position as a leading center for advanced manufacturing and will help to drive our prominence in the research and design of life-saving products,” said Metro Orlando EDC President and CEO Rick Weddle.
The addition of these new jobs is another example of the state’s economic upturn. Since 2010, Florida has created more than 462,000 private-sector jobs and the unemployment rate is down to 6.2 percent. Recently, Florida eliminated the tax on manufacturing equipment and the result has allowed for companies like ASV to utilize more resources and to continue to grow and create more jobs.
