In April, Tampa will host the International Indian Film Academy’s 15th annual Weekend & Awards celebration and its leaders are hyping the event both locally and internationally.
It’s not every day that a prestigious award show makes its way to Florida, especially an international affair of this caliber.
Taking place April 24th through the 26th, the “Bollywood Oscars” will usher in an impressive host of stars walking IIFA’s signature green carpet, which is set to broadcast to a global television audienc.of 800 million. Also scheduled for that weekend is an IIFA fashion and live music show at the University of South Florida Sun Dome and a free Indian dance music event open to the public in downtown Tampa.
Tampa being selected to host the awards show is not only a first for the state, but for the country as well. IIFA is hosted in a different location every year, and this year will be the first time IIFA travels to the U.S. The show’s global reach, will provide Tampa a great amount of exposure and has Hillsborough County officials very excited.
This economic development opportunity will allow Tampa Bay leaders to speak directly with Indian media, sure to have impacts on tourism and business opportunities for the region.
